What are the Different Types of Engraving?

Generally, engraving is a practice of incising or creating a design onto the hard surface of metal or wood. It is used to create decorative objects made up of different materials like silver, gold, steel, lacquer or glass. Engraving is great for decoration and security purposes.

The techniques of engraving have been used from years to make your things more beautiful and they changed continuously according to time. Today. Most of the craftsman use laser engraving to add a personal touch to an item. Here are some different types of Engraving.

1. Hang Engraving:- It is one of the best and oldest engraving method performed by an expert and professional craftsman with the help of a small engraving tool. Craftsman is not able to get proper finishing to the item because the work is done by a human. But some people consider hand engraving because of its old-world charm.

2. Rotary Machine Engraving:- Another type of engraving is rotary machine engraving. In this type of engraving, a specific tool is used that is controlled by a machine to create a specific pattern on your item. The design is pre-programmed into a computer and tool work according to make your item as precise as possible. It is one of the affordable types of engraving because it takes less time as compared to hand engraving. We can not use this method of engraving on heat-sensitive materials because it can damage material when heat up. This technique can be used to engrave almost all kinds of material including stainless steel, brass, copper, silver, gold etc.

3. Laser Engraving:- It is also one of the most important types of engraving in which a laser beam is used to mark and cut the materials. It does not take more time to create a permanent engraving on any material. A laser is used to vaporize the matter, thus exposing cavities that will form the final image. This technique is used to produce lettering logos or designs into a variety of materials.
Today there are so many laser engraving companies available in the market providing fast and reliable engraving services.

4 . Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Engraving:- In this type of engraving, the designs are manipulated by a machine that responds to a pre-programmed computer. By this method of engraving, we can create a high-level microscopic detail that we can not create by any other marking method.
This technique is mainly used for engraving serial numbers on metal car parts for security purposes. Some materials like the glass are also engraved by this technique.\
